First day of school

Summer is over

School is in section.

Jade is an senior in College.  Erin and I helped her moved back to her dorm Saturday afternoon.  We unpacked as much as we could.  It was great having her home for a week between returning from internship and going back to college.

This summer while Jade was with us (the month of June and this past week), her and Erin have really bonded.  They had so much fun with each other.  As everyone is getting older, you can see how the relationships are changing

more appreciative.

 

 

 Erin is an 10 grader.

She started today at the deaf school, this year she is only taking three classes there and then is going to the hearing school for two mainstream classes which she will start on Wednesday.   She is also on the volleyball team for the hearing school which currently undefeated so far in three games.  We discover some things this past week about her going to two different schools and her IEP that isn't adequate at all.  I spend a lot of time the last two days discussing and consulting with people regarding this.  It is amazing how much power an IEP has if you have it very specific and goal orientated.  It was discovered that Erin was not. 

Praying to the Lord to give me the wisdom, strength and endurance to get it all straighten out and to make sure both sides understand this is all about Erin and what is best for her (another post soon about the challenges that have come to light)

 Miss Monika is now an 6th grader.  This is year two of being the oldest grade in her school.  She was the oldest grade in her former school that went up to 5th grade and the new school she is the oldest grade.  She came home with names of 5 new friends and thought the day was great.  One thing that she noticed and it bothered her, the boys and girls don't play together much at all.  She liked that about the old school, they mix up a lot and are like a family.  She doesn't feel that way right now.  Overall she said she had a good day.

 

 

Smiley Katie started 5th grade at the new school.  This school is where Jenny transferred to last year.  Katie was very nervous that she wasn't going to meet friends.  I reassured her that she would.  She came home and said she didn't have no friends today.  She was reminded that the kids probably weren't themselves as an classmate had died over the weekend and his funeral was today.  She did talk to some people.

 Jenny is in 4th grade and excited to go back to her school.  She feels very comfortable there and they challenge her frequently.  She was excited to show her sisters where her bus stop was and was able to talk about some of the teachers.
