Monika joined gymnastics when she was 14 months old, it was more of just a fun time and learning new things. The seriousness of gymnastic didn't happen until she was 5 1/2 when she moved down from the preschool and beginner level into the "team" dyno level. She remained in this level for almost 1 year before moving up to level 4 which basically mean training to compete. She got stuck in dyno's because she was a little to short and couldn't get that bottom bar on the uneven bars. This year she has been really working hard, becoming more focus and practicing hard. This summer she moved to "training level 5" which means she was close in getting all the skills she needed to have to actually compete. The new school year brought her to level 5. She pretty much had master (she needs to tweak some of them still) all of the skills except the kip on the uneven bars. She has been so close for about a month or so and had such determination to get it. Last Saturday unexpectly she got it without realizing it. She was so focus on trying to do it that she did it and her coach had to tell her she got it. She was so happy. Her dad got to see her do it, I haven't had the honors yet. She had to do the kip again on Tuesday did it 10 times in a row. She was told if she could do it today again she would get the kip medal. I think the picture below saids it all.
Way to go Monika, I am very proud of you.

ReplyDeleteI saw you run out of the gym last night with your medal but didn't get a chance to give you a high five. I can't wait to watch you in your meets.
