A road trip

 The girls gymnastic club has one away meet each season.

This year it was at Wisconsin Dells.

We decided not to stay at Ch*la Vista 

Friday night because we knew we would be arriving late and it didn't pay to stay there.

We were recommend from a fellow Gymnasts mom

Amb*r Highway.

It was a nice hotel and very

reasonable price.

We arrived around 9 Friday night.

We got offer an continental breakfast Saturday and free water park tickets to Ch*la,

so we got to start our day of swimming before checking into the hotel, along

with saving 140 dollars. 

The girls swam and swam with their gymnasts teammates,

including with the levels above and below them.

It was so nice to see them all interacting,

having fun,

laughing,

switching around.

I had to take pictures with my phone as I forgot my camera.

I chose not to swim, I enjoyed my time visiting with the other parents.  The girls played and swam hard.  It was nice that they didn't just stay with one or two people.  I was sitting by the lazy river and many times I would see the girls with different people each time around.  They did water slides and the roller coaster, along playing in the big pool and lazy river time.

We ate lunch in our room when we were able to check in.

The gymnastic club had a pizza buffet for supper which we very good.

Ch*la is so big that there is an tunnel that you go thru from one building to the next to the waterpark.  This is one of the decorations in the tunnel which Monika wasn't so sure about.

 Monika Sorority sister also came to the Dells to compete.  She had to compete Saturday night, so we were able to say a quick hi to her before she competed.  They opt to drive down Saturday instead of Friday.  Sara did great at her meet.

 Sara and her mom came up to our room on Sunday to have breakfast with us before Monika and Katie had to compete.  It was so nice to be able to visit with them.

 The meet was in a dome.  The back in was the boy gymnastics.  I am not use to seeing boys compete.

Anna parents were so kind and grab a couple of pictures of Monika on the vault  They didn't know I forgot my camera until at the end.  Monika is standing next to her "big sister" coach.  She was so happy to be with her again.  Monika continues to struggle with losing her as a coach.  Monika's self confidence was dented pretty good when the change up happen last month.  Even though she was very excited about grips, they also caused some self confidence issues as her scores on bar dropped a lot, which they say is normal while you get use to the grips.  Right before the meet, she informed her coach and then me that she might scratch on the bar because of the grips.  Her coach didn't allow that to happen.  She did better on the bars this time (which was her second time using grips at a meet), then last time.

  The team place 5th out of 6 teams.

 They had this Level 5 broken up in 6 different age groups.  Monika and Katie were in different age groups.
The above picture is Monika placing 11th place all around out of 13.  With the exception of her bar score, her other scores were good scores.  There wasn't much difference in scores with these girls.

Katie also placed 11th (she is standing towards the end that said 2, it was sometimes hard to hear the announcer and kids didn't always didn't get in the right spot) in All Around and had her best yet score of the season.  She also beat Monika score for the first time.

Katie got 8th place on Floor and was so proud of that medal.

 Monika got 3rd on Vault and 7th of Floor.

Sunday morning before competition, there was a lot of talk about an icy/snow storm going thru the Dells and MN.  Some of the families made the decision to stay one more night.  Dave wasn't able to stay, so we had to go home.  As soon as the meet was finished we hurried out and started the long ride home.  The roads were terrible most of the way.  Dave drove and I text with the other mom's that were out on the road to.  It was nice to be able to chat with them, to keep me occupied as it also helped Dave as sometimes us moms were joking around.   The above picture is Jenny at McDonald's were we stopped to get some food and stretch our legs out.  What should have taken 3 1/2 hours turned out to be just over 5 hours.
