This week at Erin's school, they had Zen*n Dance company come and teacher k-12 grade how to dance.
Friday the kids put on an performance.
I didn't know anything about this dance company.
I went to the performance not knowing what to expect
Erin doing some of the warm up dancing. They danced after the elementary kids. I was amazed how much those elementary kids learned in such an short time. What surprised me was the dancers from the company knew basic sign and was able to communicate with the kids.
This was part of Erin's first dance. They had to partner up with someone. She partner up with her friend Corri.
The dancer (and instructor) also were very engaging with the kids. A lot of the kids have other challenges along with deafness. Those dancer had no problems interacting with them
It was so much fun to watch all the kids do the dances and watching some of the staff (interveners) doing it to with their student
Erin came home each night this week talking about the dance, wanting to take dancing classes. When she came to America, we looked into this, but it just didn't work out because instructors were willing to teacher her with an intepter but Erin felt to self conscious.
This was the first dance group that I seen that she could engage with and really enjoy. The smile says it all.
Praise the Lord for the grant that came, so that the kids could all learn dance by professional dancers.. Open another door for them to see what they can do.
