First step for the hook up

Katie hopefully had her last surgery for her ear.

She was having the magnet plate put in for the Sophono .

She was excited yet worried.

The Surgereon isn't her favorite one,

She was also worried about being called baldy from kids at school since they were shaving higher on her head.

This last statement came out the night before her surgery while we were at teacher conferences.  Dave and I along with the teacher talked with her and reassured her that she needs to let the kid or kids know that wasn't nice and also to let the teacher know.

Surgery was schedule for 8:50.  We arrived at the hospital 7:20 and Katie was already hungery and thristy.

 Katie all settle in her bed, with the bear warmer gown, and remote control.

Surgery was delayed 50 minutes.  Whenever an nurse or the doctor came in Katie kept telling them that she was very hungery.  She wanted to IV put in as she dislikes the mask.  The person that was putting the IV in got it in, and as he was pulling back the catheter, he bent the catheter.  He spoke to Katie about using the mask or doing another IV.  Katie started to cry, she was hungry, thristy, impatient and now this happen.

She decided the mask and the Family life person tried to cheer Katie up with picking flavor lip gloss, but she wasn't wanting to decide very fast.  I had to coax her.

 Waking up from surgery.  It lasted about 3 hours.  She got her blue raspberry slushie.  She didn't wake up as fast as she has in the past or was as talkative.  Theydidn 't have to do a skin graft on her fistula behind the ear.  The doctor was able to sew it together with the tissue behind her ear.

 Ready to go home.  Has her second slushie and her glass of water, now just waiting for her meds.

 Home in the comfort of her house.  Watching a movie, having subway, waiting for her sisters to come home from school

Katie waiting for her sisters to come home.   Monika was very worry the minute she got home from school, she ran to Katie, gave her hug and kiss and talked with her.  She was so happy to see her again.

 4 inch cut.  The doctor did a good job not shaving to much of her hair and it is very easily coverable.

Katie went back to gymnastics on Thursday.  She can't do upside down things, but was able to practice on the  bars and do conditioning.  She is such an amazing patient.  She very responsible, you explain to her once when she is suppose to take her meds (pill form) and so forth and she does it all her own.
