Winter Challenge 2014
Started out with them canceling school
due to extreme cold
But that is what Winter Challenge is all about.
As I work, the girls stayed home.
Katie decided to sleep most of the day away
snuggled under fleece blankets and sun.
Add that to not really eating or drinking
which is a huge change.
I arrived home 3 hours before she was due at the meet.
Got her uncovered, fed, and hydrated and she felt
much better,
not lethargic.

Katie has been looking forward to this meet since one year ago when she competed at this meet.
Last year she didn't get a trophy and wasn't prepared for the handstand competition.

It was still very cold
The march in. Katie is the last person.
Katie placed in all events except the beam.
She was 4th on bars with an 9.3. She continues to get 9's on bars
5th on vault and 8th in floor and all around.
Her team placed 3rd out of 8 teams
and had their best score.
Katie also got an award for best swing on bars.

Friday, Monika got out of school early for her meet.
We picked up her team mate Beth.
Had Subw*y before heading to meet.
Monika had a very solid meet.
She was disappointed in her scores as she thought she should have scored higher
I agree.
She placed 4th on Vault and 7th on beam and all around.
She also got the award for the best floor presentation
eventhough she didn't place.
Her floor was beautiful and the judge agreed because they gave her the award
but yet she didn't place.
Monika has competed for 3 years now and never has been in the 35 club. She has been in the 36 club and 34 club.
This was one of her goals this year.
She finally got it at Winter Challenge.
The team got 4th place overall out of 12 teams

It was fun listening to them laughing and having fun
