Surgery number 5 for Ear

The big day had finally come.

Jenny was going to have her 5th and hopefully last

surgery for her ear.

That day she was having the drill in ear canal and

the magnet plate put in her head

for the Baha system in case

she has the same thing happen to her

as Katie and wouldn't be able to hear

naturally.

 Pre-op,

Never would catch her without a book in her hand.

 First glimpse of her after surgery,

She had brought a little bear with her

and one of her surgeons named it Lily.

Her primary surgeon Discovered a little (hopefully) hiccup when he went to examine the ear they are drilling in. She has an abrasion/cut where they were suppose to drill in. That was not there on Friday when she saw the doctor. When the second surgeon came. There was a minute we thought they were going to cancel the surgery but they decided to go ahead. Praise The Lord. 

They did the Ear canal drill in and the metal plate.

Jenny's ear had fused together and Dr. Walsh

had no idea why.  He said he never

had that happen to him.  Leave it up to Jenny

to have the unique situation.  They had to 

take a bigger skin graft from him for him to fix

the ear.  He said when he cut the scar band he was hoping

the skin would still be there and it wasn't. 
He also harvest the inner canal cartilage 

and place it under the skin behind the ear

in case he has to do more surgeries with her ear.

 Some stranger who was in the waiting room with us

had brought flowers for her brother who was having surgery.

When she found out that Jenny was our daughter, she said she would

enjoy them much more then her brother.

Jenny smiled when told that.

 Jenny stayed overnight and 

this time Dave got to stay the night.

This was a first time for him.

Initially when Jenny got to her room, 

She threw up but other then that

she had a good sleep

Jenny came home from the hospital around 3 in the afternoon the next day. She was happy to be home but also it was hard for her. She very sensitive to sound (since the surgery) and in our house with 6 people and 2 dogs( fostering another dog that keeping is very busy) it hard to be quiet. She had me rinse some of her hair to get the dry blood out. Her whole right side of her head is tender between the different incisions she has. So that was painful. She continues to drain out of the ear so always has to have a towel there. She was hoping to go to school today but the noise still bothering her and she doesn't want to be draining blood from her ear while at school. She wasn't happy as the thought of just watching tv laying room wasn't what she wants to be doing. Her hip skin graft is a lot bigger then Katie's was and bothers her a lot. She did get she good news thou. The play that she is in. She just had choir part and now also has a small speaking role too.

For some reason, Jenny's ear fused, so they used the same skin graft sight as the other surgeon did and redid the back side of the ear lobe.  

They couldn't put anything on the head part.  

I had to make sure she had a lot of ointment on there,

so that it stayed covered and not get infected.

Which it didn't.
