7 days post-op update

Katie is one week post op

She bounced back very quickly

 

 her ear the day after the surgery, it was swollen.

 Wednesday we got up early to see Dr. Walsh.  He was scheduled for surgeries but managed to fit us in before the clinic open.  He removed a couple of sutures that he had put in during the surgery.  Katie informed him before the picture that she has the bigger smile.  I think it is almost a tie

One week post op.  You can see the swolling starting to go down with the ear.  The dark black is the packing that is in the canel, that is suppose to stay for 5 weeks.

 

The skin graft on her hip is the worse pain of  the surgery. I asked Dr. W. why this one hurt more then the abdomen one.  He explained that with a cut, the incision hurts, but the nerves aren't expose like the scraping skin graft. 

Katie has always been very good about being as independent with taking her meds and doing whatever she needs to do after the surgery.

She is also at the weight now where she was able to have pain pills and not liquid pain pills which she was so happy with.

This video is showing how fast Katie bounced back.  She was seen doing this at my parents place today.  She went back to Gymnastics on Monday, eventhough she didn't do a lot this week at gymnastic, she did as much as she could.  I am so proud of her, she has been such a trooper thru all of her surgeries and is such a strong girl.

Next week Katie will be see Dr. R.  He is the one that made the canel and put part of the hearing hardware in that he was able to.  Hopefully he will have more information about the surgery and how he feels with it all.
