Jade's first horseshow

Jade all set to do her first event. She looks so confident and a pro on the horse

Jade just finishing her walk/trot western horsemanship-rail event. She was waiting for the judge to come to her and ask her to walk her horse backwards straight and then go forward again. See below for her ribbon place.

Jade's first ribbon that she won. She got 3rd place in the Walk/trot western horsemanship-rail. This was her first event.

Jade 2nd place ribbon for Western horsemanshop Pattern. She had to do a specific pattern of going from one end to the other in of the barn, go around an cone. Come to a stop next to a cone, and then back up and go forward again.

Jade doing the walk/trot 3 barrel race game. This event is the only one she didn't receive a ribbon due to getting a 10 second penalty for her horse doing a canter for a second or two(a type of riding). If she didn't receive the penalty she would have been in 2nd place. She was not happy with herself for allowing that to happen. We still were very proud of her.

This is the one barrel pennant race game. (see below for the description of it)

Jade got 6th place with the egg and spoon game. (you have an egg on a spoon and you have to hold it out on the side. The judge will ask you to walk and trot your horse until there is a winner. Before you start the game, the egg you are given, you are to shake it so that you break the yoke which will help it be more stable. She was shaking her egg and squeezed it so hard that it broke and had to get another egg)

Jade's 4th place ribbon from the one barrel pennant (she has a flag in her hand, has to go to the other side of the ring put the small flag into a bucket that is sitting on top of a barrel and grab the other flag out of the bucket and come back. They are timed)

Today Jade, my sister, brother in law and neice were in a horse show. Jade had started taking horseback riding lessons in Janruary. She was given the first month free from a family member and loved it so much that she continued with it. She was invited to participate in it this year and from what I understand, it is a rare occurance for someone with very little experience to be asked. I have been told in the past by my sister and her family that she is a natural with horses.

It was a very cold and wet day for the show. We were inside a barn, but it wasn't heated or anything but at least we stayed dry. Jade was in two Pleasure events and 3 game events and received 4 ribbons. She did awesome. The 3 younger girls enjoyed watching the show and did very well watching them. Dave unfortnantely didn't get to see Jade do pleasure riding. He is his Godson's sponser for Confirmation and needed to attend Church with him today, but Dave was able to see all the game events.

After the horse show we went and saw 3D Monster VS Alien show. This was the first movie that Monika didn't complain about getting scared before the movie even started. She sat in her seat the whole time and only grab me once. So that is a huge improvement for her. They all liked the movie. One thing that I really liked about the movie was talking about being family and it doesn't matter how you became family/friends or how different you are. after we got home, Jenny started to talk about the movie and mentioned that our family is different because we all came from different places and yet we are a family.
