Giving

Today Monika met with her girl scout troop at Toys R Us. One of the troops older sister was disbanding their GS troop (the two girls in the green). They had money left over in their account from the cookie sale and decided to have the younger girl scout troop go shopping for Toys for Tots. 6 out of the 10 girls were able to make it. Each girl got to buy something up to 25 dollars. We filled two carts of items for teenagers and babies. Way to go girls. We talked about what Toys for tots mean and how this can make a child or family enjoy Christmas a little better.
Below is what Monika picked out. She is really in the "spy" stuff now and decided that walkie talkies would be a great gift. I agree

Once things were paid for, we walked to Matteress Giant because Toy R US no longer receives items for Toys for Tots. We had to walk thru the snow and across the busy street. The kids loved hiking thru the snow and didn't care that shoes were getting wet or anything...parents on the other end....burrrr...Here are the girls at Mattress Giant dropping the toys off. The gentlemen that received the items from us was so happy and appreciated and as we were leaving he said God bless you and Merry Christmas. What a good feeling to be able to brighten someones Christmas, and giving us a wonderful chance to teaching our children the beauty of giving. My girls have learned about giving before, but to do this with your peers, gives it an extra meaning. Jenny and Katie were along to witness this. Once we were done, we headed to Maplewood Mall for a carousel ride (most of the troop went)

Jenny so proud that she is now big enough that she only needs help to get up and down and that she can ride on her own.

Once we were done with the ride, the girls wanted to bring home a treat from the Rocky Mountain store. Here is Jenny trying to eat a m&M carmal apple and didn't get very far.

A friend of ours stopped over with Christmas gifts for the girls. Thank you Maureen. Monika decided to use some of the wrapping paper to make a creative hat. Talk about recycling paper...well done and so cute

Jenny and Katie model their new pj from Maureen....Monika declined the picture for the time being. Jenny this morning had a Christmas concert for faith formation. I forgot my camera so I wasn't able to take picture. I do have a parent that is planning to send me pictures. Jenny was one of the sheep and was dressed so cute. It was a wonderful play and was a kids version on when Jesus was born. Some of the story reflects what we have been reading in our advent book. The girls talked about knowing that story. Can't wait to see pictures of Jenny in the costume.
