Never doubt what a child can accomplished when they have a special need

No matter if a child is born with disabilities or has disabilities later in life, with loving families or guidance they can succeeded in their own way. As a child that lost part her hearing when she was 3, my parents never sheltered me or told me that I couldn't do something. They gave me guidance and encouragement and helped me succeed in life. I am a nurse, have been a nurse for 19 years now. My youngest two daughters have a deformed ear, we have taught them that it is nothing to be ashamed of. They wear their hair up, they have their ears pierced. We have been told by Katie's music teacher that he is amazed on how well she can sing only hearing in one ear. Some people have question us why we would want to adopt a child that has so much "baggage" and to top it off, being deaf. Every child deserves to have a parent, whether it is a mom and dad, just a dad or mom, or two moms or two dads...etc..Dave and I wanted to have another child, saw Erin and fell in love with her, her disability is something we strongly feel that we can manage given our history. Yes she is almost 13, and she probably going thru changes, but she still deserves to have a family and we want her in our family.
