When Jade joined us last August. My parents brought her a fishing license. She tried 3 times and couldn't catch a fish. She was very determine to get one. This past week she was on Spring break, she chose to go to my parents place up north and was determine she was going to catch a fish. My father had scoped out the lake to find the fish. He found a perch hole that he was pretty sure she would be able to catch a fish and get the feel of ice fishing. So the first day she got a perch and then moved up to sunny's. For the next couple of days she went out and caught sunny's. On Wednesday she was out there again catching some sunny's when she had something bigger, she was trying to reel it in and was calling for Grandpa's help. Once it got close to the opening of the hole, they discover it was an 28 inch northern. She got it on an 3/4 inch hook and not real strong fishing line. I was told by my father that she was jumping and screaming so much in excitement and that he was laughing so hard. Once picture taking was done, they let the northern go (it isn't northern season). 22 minutes later she had another bite and discover it was a different northern (much lighter then the first one) that one was over 28 inches. Friday before she came back home she caught some crappy. My dad printed out an 8x10 picture for her along with other picture and gave her the hook that she caught the northerns. The picture is already framed and in our living room. She said she wanted everyone to see it. Last summer Katie (in the pink princess holding a sunny) and Jenny (in the purple holding her bass) had their picture taken with the fish they had caught. I will be now making 8x10 pictures for them and then when Monika gets her, we will frame that one too.
