Table Talk

Before Erin came home, we had a tradition of talking about our day at supper time.  The girls always looked forward to say what they did in school and talk about anything that happen, this open the door for them to ask questions and so forth.  When we came home with Erin, it went wayside because it was two hard for the girls to explain in sign language and Erin constantly interrupted because she didn't understand, or she just felt like it and so forth.  Back when she first came home, she tried to make days very challenging.  I would talk to the girls about their day during the evenings.  It wasn't the same and it didn't seem as rewarding, but it is what we needed to do at that time.  Monday night we were at the table eating, Katie wasn't home as she was in gymnastic.  Monika asked if we could do "how was your day" again.  Before I could say anything, she said I will sign it all too.  So Monika explain to Erin what we were going to do, Erin got a big smile on her face and got excited about it.  Monika started and explained how her day was and Erin asked her a couple of questions, so they talked back and forth for a couple of minutes.  Jenny then explained her day and Erin again asked some questions.  So now it is Erin's turn, before she could start, Monika asked her go slow.  Erin chuckled and told about her day.  Monika and Jenny both asked her some questions.  It was fun to be able to do this and I hope that on the days we are home as a family for meals when can do this tradition again.  Praise the Lord that we are able to bring back some of our tradition.  It is also so cool to see Erin learning more and more what family is, what family does, and being part of the family.
