It only took me 4 months to get this new little gadget for our house.
This will help Erin communicate with both her deaf friends and hearing friends/family. It is called "video phone" made by Soren*son. It is similar to webcam and skype except you use it on your TV and you have your own phone number with it. This allows to talk to deaf people by signing, and if a hearing person needs to talk to a deaf person they can use an interpeter thru this device. Erin came home today with a note from one of her teachers saying Erin's friend wanted to call Erin and wanted to have me discuss with Erin about getting a VP, and I was one step ahead of her and already had it in place. Erin enjoyed it and even tried it out. She was very timid by it initially not really sure what to do, but with the rep. here helping her, she became more comfortable. The picture quality is so much better the webcam and skype. With this addition, I think this will help Erin a lot, and perhaps me too as I can use it to talk with my deaf friends now.

you will have to share VP numbers with us (if you want) we have one too! We love our VP. My hubbys lives on that thing and Luke thinks it is the coolest thing in the world. He spends time calling all of our Deaf friends (they love seeing Luke on there.) Maybe him and Erin can become VP friends. I know we live far away from each other but technology seems to close the gap.
