Fun day

If you haven't read the post of learning something new, please scroll past this post and read that one first, it will help you have a better understanding with this post.
Lazy river for Jenny and Monika

Katie too
but no Erin

Like my decorated cookie, it tasted very good and sugary

Jenny savioring her cookie she decorated

Monika and her cookie
No cookie for Erin

The younger girls swam for a little while after breakfast as Erin and I sat and watched.  Once we checked out of our room, we went to the activity center.  Erin wasn't to excited, but she at least didn't do to much pouting.  We got in there, the girls saw they could decorate their own cookies with candy corn, skittles,M&M,Reeces pieces, gummi bears and sprinkles and they were all over it.  Not Erin, she went and sat down and watched and tried to appear that she was not interested in what was going on.

After about 15 minutes of watching other kids (not my) decorating a pumpkin, she came over to me and asked if she could make one (She didn't want to make one when we first got in there and I asked her).  I said sure, here she is decorating her first pumpkin

A proud owner of her first decorated pumpkin and she did a great job on it

Monika:  I think she was trying to cover every space on the pumpkin

Katie and her "Happy Halloween" pumpkin

Jenny with her pirate pumpkin

Erin discovered halloween bracelets and made 3 of them.
She was enjoying herself.
Perhaps this family knows one or two things about having a good time and doing different things.  Can't wait until she gets excited and looks forward to things we do together.
Our next stop was my parents place for the night.  I had told Erin where we were going, she slept almost the whole way here and when we arrived, she asked where we were, when I said where did I say we were going, she said she couldn't remember.   Monika said Grandma and Grandpa, Erin instantly did that dissatification look at me, got out of the van and sat down in a chair by the garage.  I went into the house.  My dad was outside by Erin with the golf cart and talking to Jenny.  Jenny asked for a ride, my dad motion Erin over and the 3 of them went for a ride.  She enjoyed it, then Monika and Katie showed her this:
Monika and Erin got some serious air there

What a blast this is

Then Grandma showed her the big coloring poster which she sat and colored on and off most of the rest of the afternoon and some of the evening.

My mom made her famous homemade chicken soup.  We were hoping that since it was noodles, and the noodles are small and thin like Ramama noodles, she would eat it.  Needless to say my mom score huge in Erin's book.  3 big bowls later, Erin couldn't say enough about the soup.

Erin is now saying "bye bye" in English.  She doesn't required any cueing or anything, it isn't perfectly clear but you can understand what she is saying.  Also noticed that her lips are moving a little bit when she is talking, some of what she is saying, she is trying to move her lips too, so hopefully that is a positive thing.

As it was getting dark out.  Monika, Katie, and Jenny decided it was time to look for pretty rocks.  They asked my mom for flashlights and baggies and out the door they went.  They were gone for about 15 minutes before coming in with "pretty " rocks from my parents dirt driveway.  Those rocks to me are just plain grey and brown rocks, but to the girls they are treasures.

  2. What a lovely time you all look like you are having. Sue, I hear you loud and clear about our eldest daughter's having closed minds sometimes. Erin & Dandan sound so similar. At Christmas last year Dandan sat on the side of the pool and watched us all swimming at my parents house. You could tell she regretted her decision in not wanting to pack her swimmers. As I said Dandan was very much like Erin in making a decision before giving it a go. I'm happy to report that of late she is giving everything a go without the sour face first..we still see it every now and then but it is a lot better lol Jules
